One Year Anniversary and My New Bag Obsession

I know you have been wondering where I’ve gone, but I warned you that I wouldn’t be blogging much this year.  Since this is my one year anniversary of starting my blog, I decided it was time for a new post.  I started this blog showing one of the bags from my collection and I celebrate my anniversary with a new bag that I recently purchased.

I don’t purchase many purses now that I’m surrounded by them on a daily basis.  I also almost never pay full retail price for anything.  So when I do buy a bag at full retail price, you know it is something special.  I purchased this bag last week when I was in Las Vegas for some trade shows.  Walking into Barneys is always dangerous for me, but this time I found love.

Golden Lane is a brand from Britain.  They have created quality leather goods for sometime, but only recently entered the world of women’s handbags.  And they hit it out of the ballpark with their first design.  The Duo Satchel is unique in that the bag is separated into two compartments that has its own zippered opening.  This creates a bag that organizes well and allows the user to find items easily.  The satchel has a top handle as well as a longer adjustable shoulder strap that can be used cross body as well.  This style is offered in leather, suede, patent leather, and leather with metal corners.  It also is available in two sizes.

I purchased the smaller sized satchel in nude gray nubuck suede.  I loved the two toned composition of the bag in neutral colors.  I also like how the black leather adds punch to the soft suede.

What drew me instantly to this bag was the versatile shape and construction.  A satchel that converts to a crossbody happens to be my favorite kind of bag since I can use it as a handheld or hands free.  I was also impressed with the quality details like the zipper pulls that lay flush against the zipper when closed and then creates a loop when the zipper is open.

Right now you can only get these bags through Shopbop or Barneys, but I loved these bags so much that Purse Dreams will soon be carrying Golden Lane.  I know that when you see how well thought out these bags are, you will love them too.  Happy shopping!

Fall 2012 Trends – Exotics

As you shop this fall, you will see exotic prints everywhere. Snake print skinny jeans are the most popular version of this trend. Not everyone feels comfortable wearing strong animal prints, but it is much more wearable in accessories. This week to celebrate our 1st anniversary, Purse Dreams is offering 30% off full priced and an additional 10% off sale priced exotics. Here are some of my favorites.

This satchel from Rebecca Minkoff is made from stingray embossed leather. I love how the silver stingray like leather gives a bit of shine without being too bold. This classic shape holds a ton and even has a shoulder strap for when you need to have your hands free.

This style is absolutely one of my new favorites from Rebecca Minkoff. A simple envelope shaped wallet on a chain. The chain can be removed for use as a wallet or a clutch. These come in a variety of colors, but these two show how exotics are not that scary in a small accessory.

These totes show another exotic trend in accessories. Calf hair or pony hair has been a popular choice in high-end handbags and shoes since it adds texture in addition to the variety of color possibilities. I personally think these Bordeaux Totes from Pour La Victoire uses the perfect amount of fall color blocking in an elegant shape. The winged gussets are also very trendy this year.

This final bag is the Rebecca Minkoff Lucious hobo in Python print. For a fraction of the cost of real python, this bag will fool most people. The silver hardware is a great compliment to the print on this roomy hobo.

Spice up your wardrobe this fall with an exotic accessory and get a great deal in the process! Have a great week.

Father’s Day Picks

Not sure what to get your dad or husband for Father’s Day? Most men need a great bag to carry around their many belongings. Well Purse Dreams has some great options for you and right now you can get 20% off any men’s bag or wallet. Didn’t know we carried men’s bags? Here are some of my favorites.

This is a classic messenger style bag from Moore & Giles. This is the Sackett Messenger made from a super durable and thick leather that was hand stained to give this bag a unique coloring that you won’t find anywhere else. Moore & Giles is a company based out of Virginia and they use hearty leathers that are usually found only in high end funiture. That is one of the reasons I wanted to sell their bags. I know that these bags will hold up with years of abuse and will look even better with age.

These two are from Ben Minkoff, the brother company to Rebecca Minkoff. The Urz Computer Bag is great for that guy who doesn’t carry much other than his laptop or iPad. A slim satchel with lots of compartments and a padded computer slot, this bag also has a cross body strap that he can use to easily throw the bag over his shoulders for hands free wear. Available in a grey canvas with black leather trim and also in black leather.

So your guy has a lot of stuff he carries around? This Moore & Giles Bo Urban Satchel is huge! It can easily hold a laptop and an office full of documents. The dark brown nubuck is accented with lighter brown leather to make this bag really stand out. This bag will withstand years of use and the nubuck will soften to look better with age.

This last bag is for the more fashion forward dad. Not technically a man’s bag, but this Liebeskind Berlin Zoe Croc Tote is definately masculine with an edge. The deep croc embossing on the lightweight leather makes this tote look much more expensive than it really is. It has lots of outside and interior pockets that help organize his belongings. The tote also comes with a longer shoulder strap for cross body or shoulder use.

Purse Dreams has these bags along with many others to assist you in finding the perfect murse for your man. The 20% off discount ends on June 16th, so hurry in!
