50 Days of Black Day 26

I wore a few boring black outfits earlier this week.  Nothing worth blogging about.  I’m glad I’m more than halfway through this challenge.  It’s been hard to keep looking into my closet and coming up with new black outfits.  Here’s one that combined a few other pieces that you have seen before.

I’m wearing the faux leather top from Zara underneath the Lexy jacket from Etoile Isabel Marant.  I paired them with straight legged jeans and black short booties.  I love the simple rhodium choker from Alexis Bittar.  I bought it this summer when I was in New York and shopping the boutiques of SOHO.  I loved how it hugs my collarbone and I knew that I would get tons of wear from it.

I also wanted to feature one of the versatile Rebecca Minkoff purses in the store.  This style is called the Affair.  It has a classic front flap shape with a chain strap.  I love the bubble quilting and gold studding on this burgundy version.  The best part of this bag is that you can wear it with the chain strap doubled, like in the first picture, or long and across your body, like in the second picture.  I think that this bag has a ladylike feel with a bit of an edge.  Have a great rest of your week and don’t forget to shop local during your holiday gift searching.

50 Days of Black Day 17

Winter is here.  After baring my legs for the last time on Wednesday on a sunny 70 degree day, Salt Lake is cold and snowy.  I get so cold when the weather changes, so I had to wear some heavier layers today.

I’m wearing my skinny black velvet jeans from Citizens of Humanity with a simple black tee and the Betsey Johnson Serenn booties.  To top it off, I put on my tweed jacket from Zara.  The black and off white tweed jacket is updated with a chain accent along the lapel.  And you don’t see the slight frill on the waist of this jacket which gives it a feminine touch.

I love jackets like this one, since I can throw them over jeans and a top and instantly look polished.  Have a great weekend everyone!

50 Days of Black Day 15

I need to wear more black.  I’m only on day 15 and I’m a month into this challenge already.  Today I’m wearing black velvet skinny jeans from Citizens for Humanity that I found on sale at Anthropologie a few years ago.  You don’t see that I have my Bettye Muller shoes on as well.  The top is also from Anthropologie and it’s a brand called Maple that I have never heard of, but loved the simple print and the tie at the hem.  I accessorized with my Fiona Paxton necklace, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch and assorted bracelets.  That amazing nail polish will have its own post soon.  It’s election day, so make sure you vote!
